STANDING ORDER

To

All Assistants Commissioner of Excise,

Subject: The tapping of toddy by toddy tappers under the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909 (West Bengal Act 5 of 1909), the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the tapping of toddy by toddy tappers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every toddy tapper carrying on the tapping of toddy shall make an application in Form D to the Excise Commissioner within seven days, accompanied by a fee of twenty-five thousand rupees.

3. The Assistant Commissioner of Excise shall ensure that consignment is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Excise Commissioner within seven days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of West Bengal.
