STANDING ORDER

To

All Block Development Officers,

Subject: The keeping of a village shop by keepers of a village shop under the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1947, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Uttar Pradesh Panchayat Raj Act, 1947 (Uttar Pradesh Act 26 of 1947), the Transport Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the keeping of a village shop by keepers of a village shop.

2. The matter has been examined. Every keeper of a village shop carrying on the keeping of a village shop shall make an application in Form 7 to the Gram Panchayat within fourteen days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Block Development Officer shall ensure that demand notice is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Gram Panchayat within fourteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Transport Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
