STANDING ORDER

To

All Assistants Commissioner of Excise,

Subject: The tapping of toddy by toddy tappers under the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909 (West Bengal Act 5 of 1909), the Home Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the tapping of toddy by toddy tappers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every toddy tapper carrying on the tapping of toddy shall make an application in Form B to the District Excise Officer within fifteen days, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees.

3. The Assistant Commissioner of Excise shall ensure that licence is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the District Excise Officer within fifteen days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Home Department, Government of West Bengal.
