STANDING ORDER

To

All Assistants Commissioner of Excise,

Subject: The import of liquor into the State by importers of liquor under the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the West Bengal Excise Act, 1909 (West Bengal Act 5 of 1909), the Law Department, Government of West Bengal hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the import of liquor into the State by importers of liquor.

2. The matter has been examined. Every importer of liquor carrying on the import of liquor into the State shall make an application in Form F to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one lakh rupees.

3. The Assistant Commissioner of Excise shall ensure that excisable article is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of West Bengal.
