STANDING ORDER

To

All Deputy Registrars,

Subject: The holding of Government land on lease by lessees of Government land under the Maharashtra Rent Control Act, 1999, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Maharashtra Rent Control Act, 1999 (Maharashtra Act 18 of 1999), the Environment Department, Government of Maharashtra hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the holding of Government land on lease by lessees of Government land.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of Government land carrying on the holding of Government land on lease shall make an application in Form C to the Competent Authority within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees.

3. The Deputy Registrar shall ensure that escrow account is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Competent Authority within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Environment Department, Government of Maharashtra.
