Section 1, Police Act, 1949 [S1A-0BE]
As at 8 September 2026. In force from 26 September 1949.
1. Short title, extent and commencement.—(1) This Act may be called the Police Act, 1949. (2) It extends to the whole of India. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
