Section 9, Pensions Act, 1871 [S12-ST8]
As at 8 September 2026. In force from 14 August 1871.
9. Power to issue directions.—(1) The Central Board may, by order in writing, direct any establishment to take such measures in relation to the running of an establishment as may be specified in the order, and such person shall comply with the direction within the period specified therein. (2) An order under sub-section (1) shall state the reasons on which it is made and shall be served on the person to whom it is addressed in such manner as may be prescribed.

Notification S.O. 1808(E) of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation dated 8th July, 2016 under section 9 [N13-ZY9], 8 July 2016, in force. Recital: "In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Pensions Act, 1871 (23 of 1871), the Central Government hereby appoints, with effect from the date of publication of this notification, the officers specified in the Table below to exercise the powers of the Central Board within the jurisdiction set out against each"
