Section 2, Karnataka Co-operative Societies Act, 1959 [S2F-CS2]

2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "co-operative society" means a society registered or deemed to be registered under this Act; (b) "member" means a person joining in the application for the registration of a co-operative society and a person admitted to membership after such registration in accordance with this Act, the rules and the bye-laws; (c) "seed" means any of the following classes of seeds used for sowing or planting, namely, seeds of food crops, cotton seeds, seeds of cattle fodder and jute seeds; (d) "dealer" means a person carrying on the business of selling, exporting or importing seeds; (e) "Registrar" means the Central Registrar of Co-operative Societies appointed under this Act; (f) "produce" means agricultural produce specified in the Schedule; (g) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (h) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
