2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "motor vehicle" means any mechanically propelled vehicle adapted for use upon roads whether the power of propulsion is transmitted thereto from an external or internal source; (b) "registering authority" means an authority empowered to register motor vehicles under this Act; (c) "transport vehicle" means a public service vehicle, a goods carriage, an educational institution bus or a private service vehicle; (d) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (e) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
