18. Registration of proprietors of a lodging house.—(1) Every proprietor of a lodging house shall, within thirty days from the commencement of this Act or, where such person begins the keeping of a lodging house after such commencement, within thirty days from the date of such beginning, make an application for registration to the District Magistrate in Form I, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees. (2) The District Magistrate shall, on being satisfied that the application is in order, register the applicant and issue a certificate of registration in such form as may be prescribed. (3) No proprietor of a lodging house shall carry on the keeping of a lodging house unless registered under this section.
