Section 2, Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Act, 1990 [S1W-C60]

2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "periodical" means any publication, including a newspaper, which is published and printed at regular intervals and contains public news or comments on public news; (b) "publisher" means a person who, on his own or on behalf of the owner of the periodical, publishes the periodical; (c) "Press Registrar" means the Press Registrar General of India appointed under section 5; (d) "film" means a cinematograph film; (e) "cable operator" means any person who provides cable service through a cable television network or otherwise controls or is responsible for the management and operation of a cable television network; (f) "programme" means any television broadcast and includes exhibition of films, features, dramas, advertisements and serials; (g) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (h) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
