2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "aircraft" means any machine which can derive support in the atmosphere from reactions of the air, other than reactions of the air against the earth's surface; (b) "aerodrome" means any definite or limited ground or water area intended to be used, either wholly or in part, for the landing or departure of aircraft; (c) "operator" means a person, organisation or enterprise engaged in or offering to engage in aircraft operation; (d) "Director General" means the Director General of Civil Aviation appointed under section 4; (e) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (f) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
