2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "foreigner" means a person who is not a citizen of India; (b) "passport" means a passport issued or deemed to have been issued under this Act; (c) "passport authority" means an officer or authority empowered under rules made under this Act to issue passports or travel documents; (d) "citizen" means a person who is a citizen of India under the Constitution or the Citizenship Act, 1955 (57 of 1955); (e) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (f) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
