Section 2, Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 [S15-9N1]

2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "drug" includes all medicines for internal or external use of human beings or animals and all substances intended to be used for or in the diagnosis, treatment, mitigation or prevention of any disease or disorder in human beings or animals; (b) "Licensing Authority" means the authority appointed under section 4 to grant licences under this Act; (c) "registered medical practitioner" means a person who is registered in a State Medical Register or the Indian Medical Register; (d) "manufacture" in relation to any drug, includes any process or part of a process for making, altering, ornamenting, finishing, packing, labelling, breaking up or otherwise treating or adopting any drug with a view to its sale or distribution; (e) "establishment" means a clinical establishment registered under section 9; (f) "Inspector" means an Inspector appointed under section 8; (g) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (h) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
