Section 2, Punjab District Boards Act, 1883 [S14-111]

2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "water dispute" means any dispute or difference between two or more State Governments with respect to the use, distribution or control of the waters of, or in, any inter-State river or river valley; (b) "Board" means the Board constituted under section 4; (c) "works" includes headworks, canals, channels, embankments and any other structure for the storage, conveyance or regulation of water; (d) "water rate" means a rate levied under section 15; (e) "ground water" means the water which exists below the surface of the ground; (f) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (g) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
