Section 2, Religious Endowments Act, 1863 [S12-6DG]

2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "trust" means an obligation annexed to the ownership of property, and arising out of a confidence reposed in and accepted by the owner, or declared and accepted by him, for the benefit of another, or of another and the owner; (b) "trustee" means the person who accepts the confidence and includes a person appointed as such under section 9; (c) "Board" means the Board established under section 5; (d) "beneficiary" means the person for whose benefit the confidence is accepted; (e) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (f) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
