2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "land" includes benefits to arise out of land, and things attached to the earth or permanently fastened to anything attached to the earth; (b) "person interested" includes all persons claiming an interest in compensation to be made on account of the acquisition of land under this Act; (c) "Collector" means the Collector of a district, and includes a Deputy Commissioner and any officer specially appointed by the appropriate Government to perform the functions of a Collector under this Act; (d) "instrument" includes every document by which any right or liability is, or purports to be, created, transferred, limited, extended, extinguished or recorded; (e) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (f) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
