STANDING ORDER

To

All Welfare Officers,

Subject: The execution of work for a principal employer by immediate employers under the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982 (Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 1982), the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the execution of work for a principal employer by immediate employers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every immediate employer carrying on the execution of work for a principal employer shall make an application in Form 3 to the Employees' Insurance Court within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. The Welfare Officer shall ensure that contribution card is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Employees' Insurance Court within thirty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
