STANDING ORDER

To

All Regional Directors,

Subject: The employment of women entitled to maternity benefit by employers of a maternity beneficiary under the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982 (Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 1982), the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the employment of women entitled to maternity benefit by employers of a maternity beneficiary.

2. The matter has been examined. Every employer of a maternity beneficiary carrying on the employment of women entitled to maternity benefit shall make an application in Form 5 to the Employees' Insurance Court within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. The Regional Director shall ensure that medical certificate is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Employees' Insurance Court within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
