STANDING ORDER

To

All Deputy Directors,

Subject: The engagement of employees through an immediate employer by principal employers under the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982 (Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 1982), the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the engagement of employees through an immediate employer by principal employers.

2. The matter has been examined. Every principal employer carrying on the engagement of employees through an immediate employer shall make an application in Form 2 to the Welfare Board within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Deputy Director shall ensure that declaration form is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Welfare Board within sixty days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
