STANDING ORDER

To

All Welfare Officers,

Subject: Employment in a covered establishment by insured persons under the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982 (Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 1982), the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to employment in a covered establishment by insured persons.

2. The matter has been examined. Every insured person carrying on employment in a covered establishment shall make an application in Form 16 to the Medical Benefit Council within forty-two days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. The Welfare Officer shall ensure that claim is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Medical Benefit Council within forty-two days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Labour Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
