STANDING ORDER

All Assistant Directors,

Subject: The carrying on of a self-employed occupation by self-employed persons under the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982, regarding.

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 9 of the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982 (Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 1982), the Energy Department, Government of Tamil Nadu hereby issues the following Standing Order for the guidance of all officers subordinate to it:

1. References have been received seeking clarification on the manner in which section 9 applies to the carrying on of a self-employed occupation by self-employed persons.

2. The matter has been examined. Every self-employed person carrying on the carrying on of a self-employed occupation shall make an application in Form 16 to the Medical Benefit Council within forty-two days, accompanied by a fee of two hundred rupees.

3. The Assistant Director shall ensure that contribution card is dealt with as directed above, and shall report compliance to the Medical Benefit Council within forty-two days.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this standing order may be brought to the notice of the Energy Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
