Custody of the register.—The register maintained under these rules shall be kept at the office of the Settlement Officer in the custody of the Deputy Tahsildar, shall be bound and its pages numbered, and shall not be removed from that office except on the written order of the Settlement Officer; and where the Deputy Tahsildar having custody of it is succeeded by another, an entry recording the transfer of custody shall be made in Form 12 within fifteen days of the succession.
