Duplicate certificate.—Where a certificate of registration is lost, destroyed or defaced, the person responsible for paying shall apply to the Assessing Officer in Form 10 for a duplicate, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees, and the Assessing Officer shall issue a duplicate certificate marked as such within fifteen days of the application.
