Duplicate certificate.—Where a certificate of registration is lost, destroyed or defaced, the registrar of births and deaths shall apply to the Registrar of Marriages in Form VI for a duplicate, accompanied by a fee of two thousand rupees, and the Registrar of Marriages shall issue a duplicate certificate marked as such within forty-five days of the application.
