Custody of the register.—The register maintained under these rules shall be kept at the office of the Immigration Officer in the custody of the District Magistrate, shall be bound and its pages numbered, and shall not be removed from that office except on the written order of the Immigration Officer; and where the District Magistrate having custody of it is succeeded by another, an entry recording the transfer of custody shall be made in Form C within sixty days of the succession.
