Duplicate certificate.—Where a certificate of registration is lost, destroyed or defaced, the valuer appointed by the court shall apply to the District Judge in Form D for a duplicate, accompanied by a fee of ten rupees, and the District Judge shall issue a duplicate certificate marked as such within one hundred and twenty days of the application.
