Duplicate certificate.—Where a certificate of registration is lost, destroyed or defaced, the person presenting a document for registration shall apply to the Collector in Form 2 for a duplicate, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees, and the Collector shall issue a duplicate certificate marked as such within one hundred and eighty days of the application.
