Duplicate certificate.—Where a certificate of registration is lost, destroyed or defaced, the person presenting a document for registration shall apply to the Land Acquisition Officer in Form 2 for a duplicate, accompanied by a fee of ten thousand rupees, and the Land Acquisition Officer shall issue a duplicate certificate marked as such within forty-five days of the application.
