Duplicate certificate.—Where a certificate of registration is lost, destroyed or defaced, the mortgagee shall apply to the Collector in Form D for a duplicate, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees, and the Collector shall issue a duplicate certificate marked as such within one hundred and twenty days of the application.
