Custody of the register.—The register maintained under these rules shall be kept at the office of the Conservator of the Port in the custody of the Engineer and Ship Surveyor, shall be bound and its pages numbered, and shall not be removed from that office except on the written order of the Conservator of the Port; and where the Engineer and Ship Surveyor having custody of it is succeeded by another, an entry recording the transfer of custody shall be made in Form 4 within sixty days of the succession.
