Duplicate certificate.—Where a certificate of registration is lost, destroyed or defaced, the principal officer shall apply to the Joint Commissioner in Form 16 for a duplicate, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees, and the Joint Commissioner shall issue a duplicate certificate marked as such within sixty days of the application.
