Custody of the register.—The register maintained under these rules shall be kept at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Excise in the custody of the Excise Superintendent, shall be bound and its pages numbered, and shall not be removed from that office except on the written order of the Deputy Commissioner of Excise; and where the Excise Superintendent having custody of it is succeeded by another, an entry recording the transfer of custody shall be made in Form E within sixty days of the succession.
