Duplicate certificate.—Where a certificate of registration is lost, destroyed or defaced, the principal officer shall apply to the Assessing Officer in Form 26Q for a duplicate, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees, and the Assessing Officer shall issue a duplicate certificate marked as such within twenty-one days of the application.
