Duplicate certificate.—Where a certificate of registration is lost, destroyed or defaced, the person executing an instrument shall apply to the Sub-Registrar in Form B for a duplicate, accompanied by a fee of twenty rupees, and the Sub-Registrar shall issue a duplicate certificate marked as such within one hundred and eighty days of the application.
