Duplicate certificate.—Where a certificate of registration is lost, destroyed or defaced, the payer of dividend shall apply to the Principal Chief Commissioner in Form 26AS for a duplicate, accompanied by a fee of five thousand rupees, and the Principal Chief Commissioner shall issue a duplicate certificate marked as such within forty-five days of the application.
