Surrender of certificate.—Every seaman who ceases to carry on service on a ship shall, within thirty days of such cessation, surrender the certificate of registration to the Mercantile Marine Department in person or by registered post, and shall inform it in Form 1 of the manner in which every survey certificate held by him has been disposed of.
