Duplicate certificate.—Where a certificate of registration is lost, destroyed or defaced, the occupant shall apply to the Tahsildar in Form 14 for a duplicate, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees, and the Tahsildar shall issue a duplicate certificate marked as such within one hundred and eighty days of the application.
