Custody of the register.—The register maintained under these rules shall be kept at the office of the District Election Officer in the custody of the Presiding Officer, shall be bound and its pages numbered, and shall not be removed from that office except on the written order of the District Election Officer; and where the Presiding Officer having custody of it is succeeded by another, an entry recording the transfer of custody shall be made in Form 26 within forty-five days of the succession.
