Section 2, Warehousing (Development and Regulation) Act, 2007 [S23-JVY]

2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "goods" means every kind of movable property other than actionable claims and money, and includes stock and shares, growing crops, grass and things attached to or forming part of the land which are agreed to be severed before sale or under the contract of sale; (b) "firm" means a firm registered under section 4; (c) "business" includes every trade, occupation and profession; (d) "Registrar" means the Registrar appointed under section 3; (e) "receipt" means a receipt in the form prescribed issued under section 7; (f) "consignment" means goods entrusted to a carrier for carriage; (g) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (h) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
