Section 2, Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976 [S1Q-5E3]

2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "workman" means any person employed in any industry to do any manual, unskilled, skilled, technical, operational, clerical or supervisory work for hire or reward, whether the terms of employment be express or implied; (b) "employer" means the person who has ultimate control over the affairs of the establishment; (c) "wages" means all remuneration, whether by way of salary, allowances or otherwise, expressed in terms of money or capable of being so expressed; (d) "appropriate Government" means, in relation to an establishment under the control of the Central Government, the Central Government, and in any other case, the State Government; (e) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (f) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
