Section 2, Judges (Inquiry) Act, 1968 [S1K-QAC]

2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "information" means any material in any form, including records, documents, memos, e-mails, opinions, advices, press releases, circulars, orders, logbooks, contracts, reports, papers, samples, models, data material held in any electronic form; (b) "public authority" means any authority or body or institution of self-government established or constituted by or under the Constitution, by any other law made by Parliament, or by notification issued or order made by the appropriate Government; (c) "record" includes any document, manuscript and file, any microfilm, microfiche and facsimile copy of a document, and any other material produced by a computer or any other device; (d) "Public Information Officer" means the Central Public Information Officer or the State Public Information Officer designated under section 5; (e) "Commission" means the Central Information Commission constituted under section 12; (f) "third party" means a person other than the citizen making a request for information and includes a public authority; (g) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (h) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
