Section 2, Kazis Act, 1880 [S13-MZV]

2. Definitions.—In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,— (a) "Marriage Officer" means a Marriage Officer appointed under section 3; (b) "district" in relation to a Marriage Officer, means the area for which he is appointed as such; (c) "guardian" means a person having the care of the person of a minor or of his property, or of both his person and property; (d) "minor" means a person who, under the provisions of the Indian Majority Act, 1875 (9 of 1875), is to be deemed not to have attained his majority; (e) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act; (f) "Registrar" means the Registrar of Marriages appointed under section 6; (g) "notification" means a notification published in the Official Gazette, and the expression "notified" shall be construed accordingly; (h) "prescribed" means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
