Section 8, RTI Act [S10-4EE]

(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, there shall be no obligation to give any citizen — (a) information the disclosure of which would prejudicially affect the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security, strategic, scientific or economic interests of the State, relations with a foreign State, or lead to incitement of an offence; (b) information forbidden by a court; (d) commercial confidence, trade secrets or intellectual property, unless the larger public interest warrants disclosure; (e) information available in a fiduciary relationship, unless the larger public interest warrants disclosure; (g) information which would endanger the life or physical safety of any person or identify a confidential source; (h) information which would impede investigation or prosecution; (i) Cabinet papers, provided decisions and reasons are disclosed after the matter is complete; (j) personal information with no relationship to any public activity or interest, or which would cause unwarranted invasion of privacy, unless the larger public interest justifies it. [...] (2) Access may nonetheless be allowed if the public interest in disclosure outweighs the harm to the protected interests.
