Chennai, dated the 4th January, 2026

GOVERNMENT ORDER

Subject: Fishing in a village tank by lessees of a village fishery under the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1994, regarding.

1. In the circumstances reported by the Village Development Officer, the Government of Tamil Nadu, after careful examination, hereby orders that every lessee of a village fishery carrying on fishing in a village tank shall furnish Form 8 to the District Panchayat within forty-five days.

2. The matter has been examined. Every lessee of a village fishery carrying on fishing in a village tank shall make an application in Form 8 to the District Panchayat within forty-five days, accompanied by a fee of one thousand rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which fishing in a village tank is undertaken, and the District Panchayat shall dispose of it within forty-five days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this government order may be brought to the notice of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
