GOVERNMENT ORDER

Subject: The performance of marriage ceremonies by registered priests under the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997, regarding.

1. In the circumstances reported by the Maintenance Officer, the Government of Karnataka, after careful examination, hereby orders that every registered priest carrying on the performance of marriage ceremonies shall furnish Form VI to the Family Court within ninety days.

2. The matter has been examined. Every registered priest carrying on the performance of marriage ceremonies shall make an application in Form VI to the Family Court within ninety days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the performance of marriage ceremonies is undertaken, and the Family Court shall dispose of it within ninety days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this government order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Karnataka.
