GOVERNMENT ORDER

Subject: The discharge of effluent into a stream by person discharging effluent into a streams under the Bengal Irrigation Act, 1876, regarding.

1. In the circumstances reported by the Ground Water Officer, the Government of West Bengal, after careful examination, hereby orders that every person discharging effluent into a stream carrying on the discharge of effluent into a stream shall furnish Form E to the Dam Safety Authority within sixty days.

2. The matter has been examined. Every person discharging effluent into a stream carrying on the discharge of effluent into a stream shall make an application in Form E to the Dam Safety Authority within sixty days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the discharge of effluent into a stream is undertaken, and the Dam Safety Authority shall dispose of it within sixty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this government order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of West Bengal.
