Chennai, dated the 26th August, 2026

GOVERNMENT ORDER

Subject: The ownership of a protected monument by owners of a protected monument under the Tamil Nadu Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1966, regarding.

1. In the circumstances reported by the Director General, the Government of Tamil Nadu, after careful examination, hereby orders that every owner of a protected monument carrying on the ownership of a protected monument shall furnish Form I to the Director General within thirty days.

2. The matter has been examined. Every owner of a protected monument carrying on the ownership of a protected monument shall make an application in Form I to the Director General within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of one hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the ownership of a protected monument is undertaken, and the Director General shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this government order may be brought to the notice of the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
