Chennai, dated the 7th October, 2021

GOVERNMENT ORDER

Subject: The solemnisation of marriages by Marriage Officers under the Tamil Nadu Registration of Marriages Act, 2009, regarding.

1. In the circumstances reported by the Marriage Officer, the Government of Tamil Nadu, after careful examination, hereby orders that every Marriage Officer carrying on the solemnisation of marriages shall furnish Form III to the Registrar General within thirty days.

2. The matter has been examined. Every Marriage Officer carrying on the solemnisation of marriages shall make an application in Form III to the Registrar General within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the solemnisation of marriages is undertaken, and the Registrar General shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this government order may be brought to the notice of the General Administration Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
