GOVERNMENT ORDER

Subject: The solemnisation of marriages by registered priests under the Karnataka Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Act, 1997, regarding.

1. In the circumstances reported by the Marriage Officer, the Government of Karnataka, after careful examination, hereby orders that every registered priest carrying on the solemnisation of marriages shall furnish Form II to the Government of Karnataka within thirty days.

2. The matter has been examined. Every registered priest carrying on the solemnisation of marriages shall make an application in Form II to the Government of Karnataka within thirty days, accompanied by a fee of five hundred rupees.

3. It is, accordingly, clarified that a separate application shall be made in respect of each place at which the solemnisation of marriages is undertaken, and the Government of Karnataka shall dispose of it within thirty days of its receipt.

4. Difficulties, if any, in the implementation of this government order may be brought to the notice of the Law Department, Government of Karnataka.
